Invitations for Provincial Nominations from Ontario, British Columbia, Saskatchewan and Prince Edward Island
Invitations for Provincial Nominations from Ontario, British Columbia, Saskatchewan and Prince Edward Island
Four provinces have issued ITAs this week in the most recent round of PNP draws.
This week, Ontario, British Columbia, Saskatchewan and Prince Edward Island issued invitations to apply to candidates through the Provincial Nominee Program (PNP).
While a Provincial Nomination by itself does not equate to permanent residence, it can serve as the first step towards obtaining permanent residence from Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC).
Most Canadian provinces and territories (except Quebec and Nunavut) have their own provincial nominee programs. Through these programs, interested candidates may be invited to apply for a provincial nomination. Quebec's immigration program is administered by the province, unlike Canada.
The PNP has 105,000 permanent residents each year. It started in 1998 and since then, the number of admissions to the PNP has grown steadily every year. Both the federal and provincial governments see this as an effective tool to boost economic development outside of urban centers.

Ontario
Ontario issued 936 expressions of interest on December 19 to candidates in the Express Entry human capital priority category with work experience in targeted technical occupations.
The Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program (OINP) targets candidates with a Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score of 484-490. It was not immediately clear how many letters were sent.
Candidates must already be in the Express Entry pool under the Canadian Experience Class (CEC) or the Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP).
British Columbia
British Columbia issued 153 invitations to candidates in a targeted technical draw on Dec. 20.
Invitations were issued to candidates in the Skilled Worker and International Graduate categories, including Express Entry candidates.
Candidates require a minimum SIRS score of 90. SIRS works much like the Express Entry Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS), but only for PNPs in British Columbia.
The province also held rounds of invitations for candidates working in the following occupations.
- 15 early childhood educators and assistants (NOC 4214) with scores of at least 60 points;
- 5 healthcare workers from the Skilled Worker, International Graduate, including Express Entry category, with scores of at least 60 points.
Saskatchewan
The province invited 153 candidates for the Express Entry category and 315 candidates for the In-Demand Occupations category, for a total of 468 invitations. Candidates in both categories require 80 points.
Prince Edward Island
On December 15, Prince Edward Island invited 127 candidates through the PEI PNP's Labor and Express Entry. There are also 7 candidates invited by Entrepreneur through the Commercial Work Permit with a minimum score threshold of 62.
This brings the total number of candidates the province has invited to 1,854 through 2022.
Express Entry candidates wishing to be nominated by PEI must submit a separate Expression of Interest (EOI) to the PEI PNP.
EOI profiles are scored against PEI's points grid, like the Express Entry Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS), and the highest-ranked candidates are invited to apply through monthly draws.
